Description
The Belt (or Girdle) of Venus happens twice a day, everyday, for about 20 minutes...except when atmospheric conditions block the view. In this view, I'm looking East as the Sun has slipped below the horizon in the West, behind me. My understanding of the dark grey band seen here on the eastern horizon is the shadow of Earth on our atmosphere. The pink glow is sunlight reflecting off the dome of our atmosphere meeting the shadow. The intensity of colors is dependent on atmospheric conditions. Google it.
